I think it was because it rained.

I get it, I mean I got. I know when. It was September 9 2007. Steelers game, home opener I parked in the lot on E9th right where the MUNI begins. Walked down the stairs and saw this cat passed out on the ground with two cops standing over him. Got on my phone and as I'm talking started looking around and noticed the circus that was going on around me. I saw someone in a dog cage , acting like a dog while trying to bite a piece of raw meat attached to a fishing rod that was being suspended above the cage. The MUNI was and is a fraction of Sundays in the Fall. Despite the celebration/ health code violations/ shenanigans i experienced in the muni It was and is the walk back that defined and defines the day. There are two types of walk backs to the MUNI, 09/09/2007 I got the second one. Not only that but it started to rain, just like it did tonight. This wasn't a storm like we had tonight though it was a September rain, the kind the gets you soaking wet without you even realizing it happened. I was pissed. I was tired and a little drunk. Not even the good kinda drunk neither I'm talking Coors lite semi nauseous stadium beer drunk.

So we were were walking past the Science Center, on our way to E9th I was looking at the feet of the people walking in front of me and while listening to the conversations going on around me, I started to feel myself digest the 34-7 score that had been seared onto my brain right before we left the stadium. They were talking about regular sh*t!! Like what they did the night before? The guy to my right was explaining (trying to explain) to his son how the giant wind turbine to our left worked. There was a couple a few people over that were just walking in silence hugging! I started to get less mad. As we got to the MUNI I saw at least three groups of people relighting up their grills. I had lived the quintessential Cleveland sport day and realized that these people in this city had figured it out. it was about the journey and not the destination. The city that hadn't won a championship in 50 or so years had the purest definition of what a fan is. If someone told you that you would have a horrible day does that mean you would stay in bed all day? You would still get up right, experience it?

But when the day is done you don't focus on how it ended you remember the moments of the day. There are many "Clevelands" out there, whose pain is manifested through different sports but whose lives are experienced in very similar ways. Keep your head up my fellow Cavs fans!

"if you only eat once every 24 hours then every second of that day to you is truth."
