Ive been a resident of Cleveland Heights since the early 90`s when me and my family fell in love with it. With the exception of a lakefront mansion in Bratenahl, a woodland getaway in Hunting Valley or Chagrin Falls, or maybe even a loft on the West bank of the flats I cant think of anywhere else in Cleveland I would rather live. (sorry West Side but youre just too far away from everything) Like any love affair however it is always better if you know or at least understand things about your partner and asking questions is the best way to do it.
There are things about this wooded Nuclear Free Zone that I have always wondered about, some of these mysteries I have found answers for, but here are some of the ones in no particular order that I still ponder as I`m driving in the city usually past one of the 8000 cop cars that are staked out on the neighbourhood streets ( im not complaining by the way, too many is better than too few)
>Apart from IHOP why isnt there a 24hr food place in all of Cleveland Heights. Coventry area is a 1/2 mile radius of students and stoners who are awake and intoxicated well into the night. How has the power of an omelette or burritto ( im looking at you Chipotle) at 430 in the morning been understimated so much. ( I miss Chucks Diner)
> Why have I fallen more than once for the "joke for money" guy who walks around coventry all the time and is that the same guy who is the "King" of Coventry?
>Does anyone actually live in any of the Fairmont Mansions? Ive driven by them countless times and have never seen any activity in or around any of them. I understand they are big houses but do they not have garbage to throw out or kids that play on the front lawn ever??
>Whats up with that weird spooky house on Hampshire, does anyone actually know the true story behind that because Ive heard about 8 different ones.?
>Should there be a statue of Charles and Ritchie somewhere on Lee Road ? You havent experienced Lee road unless youve shared a laugh with one of these dudes at one point in your drinking career?
> Why is every single employee of that Martini/Wine bar thing on Fairmont a Huge Doushebag, I understand one of the criterias of working in a Wine Bar is the assumption that you are better than everyone else and the general belief that you are a superior human being but this establishment takes it to a whole other level?
>So one of my homies K-Smith put me onto this but does anyone else know that there is a private Clay Court Tennis/Country Club behind the Toyota Dealership on Mayfield bordered by Superior, Hampshire, Radnor and Somerton? Google Maps it if you dont believe me. ( Im going over there Saturday a.m.with some Timbs on and a wooden racket circa 1975 and some friends)
>Why can I only use quarters in the Parking Meters on Coventry?
> How is it possible that Quinns stayed open for as long as it did.
>Has Ralph Lauren been the secret official clothing company of Cleveland Heights for the last 15 years. You didnt grow up in the Heights if you never owned a Polo Bear t-shirt
>What exactly is the function of the "other" side of the Cleveland Heights Public Library on Lee thats connected by the bridge?
>Even though I didnt go there will I ever get tired of saying Heeeights Hiiiiiiiiiiiiigh
To be continued......
