To travel in time you must move at the speed of sound.

Ive begun thinking of myself as a "simple pleasures" kind of guy. There is a handful of very basic simple things that I look for in life and people, that always give me healthy dose of peace. The one I consider the simplest and logically by my definition of these the greatest is the first time I listen to an album. And I mean a good album one that doesn't require skip buttons unless you re going backwards. Have you ever listened to a an album that was so good that you knew it was as soon as you started? When I listen to a great album for the first time I know its good because I feel a quick moment of sadness. The sadness comes from knowing I'm never gonna get a first time again. Then I listen to another song and another and gradually a peace comes over me. It comes from the knowledge that I am leaving reference points in the space time continuum somewhere between the Alpha and Omega of that 13 or so song universe. Reference points that we revisit when we hear the song(s) again. And when it comes on again one day and you smile and drift off for a bit it means you have achieved the ability to travel in time without the use of a Delorean.

I heard a song last night from an album I just started listening to. I heard the song for the first time again. I knew it would happen because it always does. Sometimes it takes weeks sometimes years and sometimes never. If you hear a song and you cant connect with it it then it might mean you need to go back and live some more because I believe there is no such thing as a bad song or bad music, there are just things we sometimes cant relate to because the message and our lives have not synchronized yet. That's one of the best parts about good music. The song stays the same but we hear them differently because we are constantly changing. Imagine being able to draw lines in your life showing when you grow like marking lines in the wood of a kitchen door over the years to show how much taller we get. Music provides us with that function. When you hear a song again it it has new meaning your soul has created a new ring around it like a tree does. Don't take that simple moment lightly.
